I was a lucky chap this birthday – a four hour Quadlander Treks tour of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable!
We started out in Álora and after meeting our guide (Sue, who is an absolute LEGEND, and so knowledgeable about the area, it’s history, the wildlife and the hidden tracks and dry river beds) we had our first taster on the quad bikes in the safe environment of the pickup centre.
Safety instructions over and once we were comfortable with the bikes it was off on the open road.
Sue led the tour at a perfect pace; fast enough to be exhilarating, while not so speedy that we missed any of the amazing scenery or the birds of prey!
I can’t tell you how fantastic the route was – the views, the terrain and the company of our guide made for the best birthday present ever.
It’s like rambling at speed!
Quite literally; with the flexibility of water and photo stops as needed.
I lost track of the brilliant things we saw – including an eagle and numerous vultures. The absolute highlight was the sight of the turquoise lakes coming into view as we crested the Sierras; it was just breathtaking – not something anyone would forget in a hurry.
It was a tremendous activity – we just saw so much, and as their website says, there’s no better way to see so much of the area, so close up and in such detail, so quickly.
Thanks Sue at Quadlander for an amazing adventure, and to Shaun for the birthday present (I can’t see how you’ll ever top this one, unless it’s another trip out on a quad bike!).
