International Guests Now Welcomed in Spain – with no quarantine period
We’re delighted that Spain brought forward the date for allowing International travellers to enter the country – initially from the European Union and Schengen countries, as well as the UK – without the need for any quarantine or isolation period in Spain.
At the moment, the UK government is still advising against all but essential travel to Spain and states that anyone returning to the UK will be required to self isolate for 2 weeks upon their return.
However, indications are that this may change and Spain and the UK government are in discussion to create an air-bridge between the two countries (meaning that there would be no quarantine period for travellers in either direction).
The New Normal
The nationwide ‘State of Alarm’ has ended (as of 21 June) and, under this ‘new normal’, each autonomous region of Spain now controls their own measures for keeping Covid-19 under control until either an effective treatment or vaccination is found.
Travellers entering Spain will pass through three health checkpoints and be required to register where they will be staying whilst in Spain.
Capacity limits are in place in commercial premises, but shops and cultural venues such as museums, theatres and auditoriums are open once again, as our the national parks, visitor centres and tourist information offices.
Sidewalk cafes and restaurants can open at full capacity and the advice is to maintain social distance, wash hands and surfaces regularly and to wear a mask when it’s not possible to maintain social distance.
Rules for Guests to Andalusia
- Maintain a social distance of 1.5m whenever possible
- Wear a mask in public areas when a social distance of 1.5m cannot be guaranteed
- Masks must be worn on public transport, in shops and supermarkets and in a car if you are with someone who is not from your own household (e.g. in a taxi)
Specifically at Finca Gran Cerros
- Our outdoor kitchen and bar area is open to all guests, who should maintain a distance of 1.5m
- The garden and pool area is open and sunbeds are spaced appropriately (and cleaned per regulations)
- Meals will continue to be served on your own private terrace, or in the outdoor kitchen and bar area
We will of course be adhering to the Government advice regarding social distancing and health and safety, including enhanced disinfecting and cleaning regimes, which we’ve detailed in our FAQs.
Once there’s more clarity on the UK’s current stated arrangements for quarantining returning guests, we’ll update this page.
In the meantime, stay safe and keep well and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Phased Reopening from 1 June 2020
We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be reopening to welcome guests, initially from within Málaga province, from 1 June.
It’s a huge milestone but still early days and there will be a number of changes in place to ensure that we can provide guests with the safest get-away possible. The most significant of these is that for a short initial period only one apartment will be available (our newly renovated Casita El Torcal), sleeping up to 2 people.
We will be adhering to Government advice regarding social distancing and health and safety, including enhanced disinfecting and cleaning regimes, which we’ve detailed in our FAQs.
A complimentary breakfast in included with all bookings and is provided to your own private terrace and an optional dinner is available upon request (and we can provide a light lunch if guests wish to be catered for throughout the day). The honesty bar and open-air outdoor kitchen will be available, as will the gardens, plunge pool and large 60sqm swimming pool.
We’re obviously sad not to be able to welcome guests from further afield just yet but are still taking advance bookings from future guests for 2021, irrespective of their location!
As the Government restrictions ease, we will be moving closer to business as usual and of course will continue to keep in contact with all our guests with forthcoming bookings.
In the meantime we do have some limited availability for the month of June which we can offer to those who reside in Málaga province.
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone here as soon as we’re able to.
In the meantime, stay safe and keep well.

The Spanish government has outlined its approach to easing the current restrictions. As yet, no dates have been confirmed for the three phased return to a ‘new normal’ although the aspiration is to reach the end of the transition period by the end of June.
It is not a one-size-fits-all approach across the whole country. Each area of Spain will enter the different phases at the appropriate time, as the area passes the goals required for that phase of restriction lifting (in terms of number of infections, capacity of the local health services, etc).
With no confirmed timings available yet, it is still very much a waiting game – and, of course, our ability to host you is also impacted by restrictions in place in your own country and region.
The following article provides an overview (in English) of the latest information from the Spanish government. Again, the dates mentioned are not yet confirmed and will only be confirmed shortly before the easing being implemented.
Spain’s phased approach to lifting lock down restrictions
The main message is that there is a plan for a way forward. It is possible that as a first step we may initially be able to open at some point in May to welcome guests who are travelling to us from within the province of Málaga, with guests from different provinces being welcomed in June. As yet, there is no indication as to when guests will be able to visit from other countries.
Obviously, this is disappointing for us all, but we will continue to follow all guidance from the authorities as to what we’re able to do, and when.
In addition, we already have plans in place to make sure that when we do re-open, we can host you in the safest possible way.
We want all of our guests to be able to enjoy a safe, relaxing retreat from the stresses of life; goodness knows you’ll deserve it! 🙂
Stay strong, keep safe and well and, fingers crossed, we will see you soon.

PS. As requested, we’ve now added some pics and information about the new Outdoor Kitchen and Bar.

As the lock-down situation in Spain continues we’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness of guests who are in a position to change their holiday dates rather than cancel their planned trips completely.
Availability calendars are now live through to the end of 2021 for all three of our apartments through the accommodation pages. So, if you are looking ahead to next year, we’d encourage you to consider dates as soon as possible, although appreciate that might not be possible given the current uncertain and challenging times.
Stay strong, safe and positive and we’ll see you once this is all behind us.

Just a quick update to say thank you.
Thanks to everyone who’s been in touch – and especially to those who are postponing their holidays rather than cancelling completely. It’s lovely to have something positive to look forward to 🙂
We really appreciate it as we know these are uncertain times for all of us – and we’re looking forward to welcoming you when the immediate crisis has passed; we’ll be here ready and waiting!
In the meantime, thanks again,

The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has today issued an exceptional travel advisory notice, advising all British people against non-essential travel worldwide. The advice has immediate effect and is in pace for an initial 30 days.
This, coupled with the extraordinary measures that Spain already has in place means that – as things stand – we expect to be closed to (UK) guests for at least the next 30 days.
Obviously we will honor refunds in full for all direct bookings (and during this time, we’ll be waving the 2 week cancellation period in our regular terms and conditions too), irrespective of guests’ travel insurance situation.
‘Honour refunds in full, waiving 2 week cancellation period’
We’re also in contact with all of our third party booking sites and have confirmed to them that we expect them to return deposits in full, and without cancellation fees or administration charges, to any of our guests who may have to cancel bookings as a result of the current Coronavirus crisis.
‘Heartfelt thank you for rolling deposits forward’
We’d like to thank all guests for their patience and understanding, and a heartfelt thank you to all those who have asked us to hold their deposits until they are able to re-book alternative dates; we very much appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you once things return to normality.
Stay safe and well,

15 March 2020
Well-being is ingrained in our ethos. It goes hand in hand with everything that we strive to provide for our guests here at Finca Gran Cerros; relaxation, tranquility and good, healthy, locally-sourced food.
As the world continues through these unprecedented times, we must all make difficult decisions to minimise the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the well-being of us all.
In line with the extraordinary measures being taken by the local and national Spanish authorities, we will be closed to guests for a two week period between Monday 16th March and Sunday 29th March and have contacted those impacted.
It’s hoped that, as a result of the extraordinary measures being put in place across Spain, the authorities will get ahead of the current crisis and minimise any wider or more prolonged disruption and, in turn, ensure that future guests can still enjoy a relaxing break here.
At the moment, bookings beyond 30 March are unaffected.
We will continue to follow the advice of the authorities and will provide a refuge of sun-soaked well-being, tranquility and relaxation for guests once this immediate dark cloud has passed.
We, of course, remain available to answer any queries that you may have.
With all our very best wishes,
Michael & Shaun x
